Greater Manchester Projects
Lots of fantastic projects are happening across Greater Manchester. However, it’s tough to spread the word about them to everyone in the sector and connect with all the right people. This can lead to different projects aiming for the same goals in different areas. Working together on similar projects can lead to a bigger impact, cuts out duplicate efforts, and saves time and money.
We’ve put together a list of projects that VCSE organisations are involved in across Greater Manchester. It includes a summary of each project and who to contact for more information. If you’re working on something similar and can offer support, please reach out to the contact provided. If you have a GM project to add to the list, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to include the details.
Greater Manchester Moving is GM’s movement for movement; led, supported, and connected by the Active Partnership of the same name, alongside thousands of organisations across the city-region. The movement shapes and powers the shared GM Moving in Action strategy. Everyone has a role to play in our shared mission of active lives for all.
Check out the video for more details, or visit the GM Moving website for additional information.
10GM is working in collaboration with GM Cancer, partners from across the wider health system and the wider VCSE sector to achieve a permanent reduction in inequalities and inequity within Greater Manchester.
The project will work towards finding innovative ways of tackling inequalities by addressing the social, environmental, and economic determinants of health and wellbeing, with the aim to ensure active VCSE participation and parity in strategic work to enhance equality, equity and wellbeing.
If you’re a GM VCSE organisation working with – or wanting to find out more about – supporting people in your community affected by cancer, get in touch with Kirsty Rowlinson-Groves, 10GM Strategic Lead (Cancer & Inequalities).
10GM are working with The Greater Manchester Combined Authority Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) to deliver a programme of community-led approaches to violence reduction. The programme works with young people aged 10 to 25 years, and their families.
The key focus of the programme is ensuring that young people and stakeholders in a chosen area come together to identify what’s going on, and what’s not happening and to develop ideas within the community for projects and activities.
Check out the video to hear more about the Violence Reduction Unit.
The Changing Futures programme, led by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), is working in partnership with 10GM, and other organisations across the VCSE and statutory sector, to improve the way that local systems and services work for adults experiencing multiple disadvantage – including homelessness, drug and alcohol problems, mental ill health, domestic abuse and contact with the criminal justice system.
If you’d like to find out more about Changing Futures, or you’d like to get involved in our work, get in touch with 10GM.
10GM has partnered with Data Orchard CIC to understand the state of data and intelligence in the VCSE sector in Greater Manchester. We’re exploring how the sector is doing currently, listening to challenges and needs around data, and planning support and resources that will be useful in future. 10GM and Data Orchard CIC offered all VCSE organisations In Greater Manchester a free Data Maturity Assessment report to help them understand their organisation’s current approach to data and intelligence, as well as lots of hints and tips on getting better with data.
For further information get in touch with Emma Ansell-Meehan, Strategic Lead for Population Health at 10GM, or visit Data Orchard’s website to find out more about Data Maturity.
