Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

We’re looking for a creative and dynamic storyteller to join our team and bring the programme for Manchester International Festival 2025 (MIF25) to life across our social media channels.

This role will focus on producing and sharing compelling stories about the artists, works, and experiences of the festival, creating content that excites and inspires our audiences. Reporting to the Senior Audiences Manager (Content) and working closely with the Social Media Manager, Content Producer, and Videographers, you’ll play a key role in shaping how the festival is experienced digitally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce and deliver engaging social media content that tells the stories of the artists, works, and themes of MIF25, connecting with audiences locally, nationally, and internationally
  • Work with the Senior Audiences Manager (Content) and Social Media Manager to execute and develop the festival’s social media strategy
  • Collaborate with the Content Producer and videographers to plan and create high-quality, engaging multimedia content, including videos, photography, and live coverage
  • Maintain and develop a social media content calendar focused on the festival’s programme, including behind-the-scenes stories, artist interviews, audience reactions and real-time festival updates
  • Develop inventive, platform-specific content formats that maximise engagement and celebrate the festival’s unique artistic vision
  • Build influencer partnerships to extend the reach of MIF25’s social content and connect with new audiences
  • Monitor and manage community engagement across channels, fostering meaningful interactions with audiences
  • Analyse social media performance and compile regular reports, using insights to refine content and identify new opportunities
  • Support the Press and Marketing teams by aligning organic social content with wider festival communications and promotional campaigns
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media trends and tools, bringing fresh ideas to enhance the festival’s digital presence

General

  • Actively engaging with the organisation’s vision and policies regarding equality, representation and inclusion, artistic ambition, participation and engagement, health and safety, sustainability, reporting evaluation and monitoring
  • Training and talent development is central to the way that Factory International work. All job roles are expected to contribute to our training and development activity, contributing time to supporting our training programmes on site and occasionally off site
  • Any other duties that are commensurate with the post

FUTURE FLEXIBILITY
Factory International is currently undergoing a significant period of organisational change as we grow and develop to operate the venue. Any new appointees will be required to show a flexible approach to this process – which may involve revisions around job description, titles, roles and departmental structures.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience managing multiple social media platforms and delivering successful campaigns
  • Skilled at creating a variety of social media content, including video and photography, with experience of working with filmmakers and content producers
  • An excellent communicator and storyteller, with creative flair and strong attention to detail
  • Experience working on brand-led social media campaigns, ensuring consistency in tone of voice and visual identity
  • Ability to plan and manage a busy content calendar, delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines
  • Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in arts, culture, or festivals
  • Proficiency in editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or similar
  • An understanding of influencer marketing strategies and community-building techniques
  • Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent

Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week (this is 8 working hours + one-hour unpaid lunch break eg 9am-6pm)
