As an IPS Peer Consultant, you will co-develop and deliver a two-year project exploring the employment needs of young adults (16-25). You will work with young people, employers, and professionals to create a framework that supports inclusive and sustainable employment for those facing mental health challenges.
Role Details:
- Contract Length: Fixed term – 24 months (subject to development plan & funding)
- Hours: 8 hours per week (flexibility required, including evenings & weekends)
- Location: Hybrid – Manchester office with some community work across Greater Manchester
- Annual Leave: 27 days per annum (pro rata), plus bank holidays
- Reports to: IPS Worker
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with young people (16-25) and employers through workshops, interviews, and discussions to understand employment barriers.
- Work alongside the IPS Worker to design a framework for employers on how to support young people with mental health challenges in the workplace.
- Conduct peer research by gathering insights from young people, employers, and professionals.
- Co-organise and co-facilitate monthly steering groups/workshops with young people in the IPS programme.
- Ensure that the voices of young people from marginalised and racialised communities are represented in the framework.
- Share research findings and recommendations with employers, partners, and decision-makers to influence real change.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Experience engaging with young adults (16-25) in different ways.
- Understanding of employment barriers faced by young people with mental health challenges.
- Awareness of challenges faced by marginalised and racialised communities in employment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to amplify young people’s voices.
Hours Per Week: 8
