Job Description

Macc is Manchester’s support organisation for the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector. We are committed to empowering communities and supporting over 160,000 volunteers across the city who contribute their time, skills, and energy to making a real difference.

Volunteer Centre Manchester, managed by Macc, connects volunteers with opportunities and helps organisations develop high-quality volunteering programmes. Our work supports community well-being and resilience, ensuring volunteering is accessible, inclusive, and impactful.

About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, people-focused individual to join our team as a Volunteering Development Worker. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys directly engaging with volunteers and community organisations, supporting them to develop rewarding, inclusive volunteering opportunities.

You will:

  • Support individuals looking to volunteer by providing guidance and information.
  • Help organisations develop, manage, and enhance their volunteer programmes.
  • Lead on community engagement initiatives, ensuring volunteering is inclusive and accessible.
  • Champion volunteering across Manchester, working with stakeholders to promote best practices.
  • Contribute to the Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation (VCQA), ensuring high standards in volunteer management and organisational support.
  • Support digital engagement and develop innovative ways to recruit, retain, and engage volunteers.

This is a hands-on, people-focused role that requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

Salary: £27,291 per annum (pro rata)
Hours: 35 hours per week (flexi-time system)
Location: Manchester City Centre with some remote working
Contract: Permanent (subject to funding)

  • Can develop inclusive volunteering programmes, ensuring accessibility for all communities.
  • Is skilled in digital tools and social media, using them to promote volunteering opportunities effectively.
  • Thinks creatively and solves problems proactively.
  • Thrives in a dynamic role, managing multiple projects while keeping a people-first approach.
  • Shares our passion for volunteering, community development, and Macc’s values.

Hours Per Week: 35 hours per week

Role Type/Cause: Volunteer co-ordinator/management

  • We have been an accredited Real Living Wage employer since 2013.
