Job Title: Deputy CEO / Development Worker

Salary: £35,000 (37 hours including lunch break/ 34.5 hours excluding)

Pension: Workplace pension contributions

Hours: 37 hours per week (including lunch break)

We are looking for someone with experience of working in the Third Sector, to deputise to our CEO and to take the lead in sourcing new opportunities and partners for our organisation. The role will also include designing new campaigns, writing funding bids and creating proposals.

This is a new role, and we are looking for someone with -

· At least two years of managerial experience.

· Knowledge and experience in building relationships with a variety of diverse audiences to achieve financial targets.

· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to motivate and inspire supporters and potential supporters.

· The ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities to meet deadlines.

· Experience in writing a range of funding bids and compiling evaluation documents.

· Helping the CEO and trustees develop and deliver a robust fundraising/development plan.

· Knowledge of different funding streams and social value.

· An understanding of Salford and the local area.

About the role

· Deputise to the CEO in various ways.

· Identify, develop, and grow supporter relationships with local businesses.

· Start and manage a ‘Friends’ Group to help with fundraising activities.

· Identify opportunities to help achieve fundraising goals.

· Identify, grow and nurture corporate prospects using a pipeline process, resulting in applying for and converting opportunities.

· Be proactive within your area to identify opportunities for fundraising and raise awareness of the Charity.

· Identify funding sources, help the CEO compile funding applications and complete reports/evaluation documents.

· Manage supporters and potential supporters effectively through regular updates.

· Meet agreed financial targets, provide monthly financial progress reports, and put mitigation plans in place for any shortfall.

Please Note – Some staff will be required to work 4 hours on Christmas Day (2 Lieu days given).

Skills and Knowledge

· Excellent customer service skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work with people to help them to achieve their goals.

· A good knowledge of issues facing vulnerable housed, isolated and homeless people: legislation, welfare benefits, support service, safeguarding and equal opportunities.

· Ability to develop, organise and prioritise workload.

· Ability to react quickly to changing situations and to multi-task.

· An ability to motivate people to change.

· Ability to work as part of a team

· Computing skills, including word-processing and ability to produce reports.

· An understanding of the principles of equal opportunities.

· Commitment to the centre’s vision, mission and values and willingness to work within policies and guidelines.

· Ability to engage with a complex and challenging client group.

· Ability to maintain motivation and positivity within a challenging environment.

Experience

· Experience of working with people who are vulnerably housed, isolated and homeless people or marginalised in other ways, providing support to help them to access services.

· Experience of working in an empowering way with people.

· Experience of motivating people to make positive changes in their lives.

· Experience of working in a Drop-In environment.

· Experience of volunteering and/or supporting volunteers.

· Experience of working with people whose first language is not English.

· Experience of working under pressure and dealing with challenging and sometimes aggressive behaviour.

Work Related Circumstances

· Willingness to work the core hours flexibly, across multiple locations and to be punctual and reliable.

· Willingness to work on Christmas Day.

· Willingness to undertake practical tasks as required.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB) as it will involve work with Vulnerable Adults.
