Job Description

Are you passionate about social justice, advocacy, and making a tangible difference in people’s lives?
Irish Community Care Manchester (ICCM) is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Advocacy and Support Officer to join our team.

For over 35 years, we’ve supported Irish and Irish Traveller communities across Greater Manchester. Our one-to-one advocacy work helps people overcome immediate crises and build more stable, independent futures. We’re proud to be a Living Wage accredited employer and offer a supportive, values-led working environment.

About the Role

You’ll provide personalised advocacy and outreach support to individuals—primarily Irish or of Irish descent, including members of the Traveller community—who are facing complex health, housing, legal or social challenges.

Working closely with clients in their homes and in the community, you’ll:

  • Conduct needs assessments and develop tailored support plans
  • Deliver advice on housing, welfare benefits, debt, and healthcare
  • Accompany individuals to appointments and advocate on their behalf
  • Liaise with public and voluntary agencies to coordinate effective care
  • Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to wider service delivery
  • Help deliver community outreach, awareness and education campaigns

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Experienced in supporting people with complex needs
  • Highly organised, empathetic, and solutions-focused
  • Confident in working independently and managing a busy caseload
  • Skilled in advocacy, care planning, and inter-agency collaboration
  • Culturally aware and sensitive to the needs of Irish and Traveller communities

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
We actively encourage applications from Irish, Irish Traveller, and other underrepresented communities.

  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Flexible working and home working days
  • Paid volunteer days
  • A supportive, values-driven team environment
