Job Description
We are looking to recruit a Homeless Prevention Navigator to be involved in setting up a new project within our well established services in Collyhurst and Hulme. The Caritas Homeless Prevention Service will provide early and extra help to households in Manchester to address poverty and avoid homelessness.
The Homeless Prevention Navigator will deliver 1 to 1 support, facilitate internet cafes and run information briefings to raise awareness about housing options. The aim of the Caritas Homeless Prevention Service is to reduce the number of families and households becoming homeless, improving people’s financial situation, increasing digital literacy to support people to manage their finances and improving people’s health and wellbeing through increased resilience and mor secure finances and housing.
You will work with a person-centred and strengths-based approach and have knowledge of advice work, and of the housing and/or benefits system. Experience of working with families and individuals who are facing challenges, such as poverty, poor housing, physical and/or mental health issues or disabilities.
Additionally, you will have excellent customer service skills and proven IT and administration skills.
The hours of the role are from 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional work required outside these hours during evenings and weekends by arrangement.
