Victoria Community & Youth Centre is offering a 12-month contract for a dynamic and committed Lead Youth Worker to deliver high-quality youth engagement in Whitefield, Manchester. This role is ideal for a self-employed professional or freelancer seeking meaningful, community-led work on a part-time basis.

Contract Type: Fixed-Term – 12 Months
Hours: 8 hours per week – Every Thursday, 12:00 to 21:00 (includes 1-hour paid break)
Rate: £15.61 per hour (JNC Point 14)
Closing Date: Monday, 13th June 2025, 17:00

About the Role
As Lead Youth Worker, you will take the lead in planning, delivering, and evaluating engaging youth sessions that foster personal, social, and emotional development among young people. You’ll coordinate a small team of volunteers and trainees, serve as Designated Safeguarding Officer, and play a vital role in strengthening community ties.
This is a contract for services, ideal for someone experienced in youth work delivery and looking for flexible, project-based involvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate weekly youth club sessions with a focus on inclusion and youth voice
- Mentor and build positive relationships with young people
- Co-design programs with youth participants
- Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed
- Support and supervise volunteers and trainees
- Engage with parents, carers, and community stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records and support reporting to funders and trustees
Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Youth Work or relevant experience
- Safeguarding Children (Level 2) certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering youth-focused activities
- Experience supervising volunteers
- Commitment to equality and inclusive practice
Desirable:
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
