Job Description

Here at Seashell we are proud to be providing care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment and communication disorders and autism.

The successful candidate will become a part of our outstanding school team and work as a class teacher for up-to 6 students. Our students are aged between 4 and 19, and all follow an individual Seashell curriculum. You will be supported by your teaching team that includes art, horticulture, music, and cookery teachers as well as class teachers such as yourself.

We are recruiting for a talented and passionate SEN Teacher who wishes to work as a part of a wider team to provide exceptional outcomes for the most complex students. We have a new state of the art school with advanced resources and a dedicated team of Therapists, specialist Teachers and TA. The successful candidate will have access to an exceptional training package that will support them in developing their specialist skills and the opportunity to work in an empowering, supportive and innovative team. The post-holder will be responsible for a small group of students and be a line manager for a group of Teaching Assistants.

Requirements

Experience required:

  • Experience of teaching students with complex communication and educational needs.
  • Experience of working within a curriculum to remove barriers through meaningful and engaging individual programmes.
  • The skill to help students succeed following a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • An aspirational approach to learning where successful small steps lead to positive outcomes.
  • SEN and Primary / EYFS experience desirable.

Education and training required:

  • Teaching Degree or Post Graduate Diploma (Qualified Teacher Status QTS)
