Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To promote Homeless Friendly in line with current legislation whilst ensuring that the charity adheres to the Charity Commission requirements. Represent Homeless Friendly at meetings, ensuring that the charity is viewed in a positive manner. When needed refer people who are either homeless or threatened with homelessness to appropriate services. Encourage organisations to become Homeless Friendly, support the awareness raising training either via on line or one to one sessions.

Play a key role in fundraising, partnership development and impact reporting to ensure the charity’s long term sustainability and growth.

This position is a temporary 12-month post with the possibility that it may be extended.

The role will cover Greater Manchester with an office base in Oldham.

KEY TASKS

  • Assist with the day to day running of the charity including admin tasks, answering the telephone and responding to email queries
  • Assist with fundraising activities, including community events, grant applications and corporate engagement.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local councils, healthcare providers, businesses and community groups to expand the reach of Homeless Friendly.
  • Monitor and report on impact, including number of pledges, training delivered and people supported to demonstrate the charity's value.
  • Act as an advocate for people experiencing homelessness, ensuring their voices and experiences are included in the charity's work.
  • Ensure that trustees are fully involved in decision making as and when appropriate.
  • Support the trustees in developing strategies to grow and develop the business.
  • Assist with the Identification of projects plus assist with implementation.
  • Ensure that membership of organisations is supported as appropriate.
  • Support and encourage organisations to pledge that they will offer a respectful inclusive service to people who are homeless.
  • Assist with reviewing training packages, if needed deliver such training both face to face and online.
  • Assist with maintaining secure and effective manual and electronic data recording and filing systems in line with data protection requirements
  • Research and review local community information which is passed onto ‘pledgers’
  • Assist with reviewing policies and procedures.
  • Reach out to local community organisations and develop an understanding of the work that they undertake.
  • Refer to appropriate agencies on behalf of people who are homeless.
  • Where needed pass on information to organisations who are unsure as to where they should refer people.
  • Help set up events including stands to promote Homeless Friendly
  • Offer Support to any Homeless Friendly volunteers.
  • Assist with managing social media on behalf of the charity
  • Post or email information, examples being pledges and certificates in relation to the online training as created by our website.
